Buyer guide · Somatic nutrition training

Somatic nutrition training for dietitians.

Where does this course teach body-signal assessment around eating?

Module 1. It examines interoception, the window of tolerance, dissociation and eating, and grounding in nutrition care, and introduces the HFSC: Hunger, Fullness, Satiety, Comfort Scale as part of its clinical sequence. You can see the actual HFSC tool and a Module 1 excerpt in the course preview.

Interoception

Hunger, fullness, satiety, and comfort.

The HFSC tool asks a client to rate each of four dimensions, Hunger, Fullness, Satiety, and Comfort, from 0 to 10 in a Pre-Meal Assessment and again in a Post-Meal Assessment. It sits within the PACI–HFSC–WIS–MMP–PMCA–MRP sequence for assessment and regulation.
Module 1 · Lesson 1.1

From the course textbook.

“This network governs the bidirectional dialogue between brain and viscera: what happens in the gut, the heart, and the breath is read by the brain, and what the brain perceives shapes visceral state in turn.”
“The Neurovisceral Integration Model: What It Is and Why RDNs Need It”
Regulation in session

The Foundation of the house.

In the Psychonutrition House™, the Foundation (Regulate) asks: can the nervous system tolerate the session? Module 1 also covers the gut–brain connection, neurovisceral integration, and heart rate variability (HRV).
